ARCHIVES AND COLLECTIONS

The Archives and Collections of The Sisters of Charity of Montreal, “Grey Nuns”, are located at the Maison de Mère d’Youville. Its mission is to preserve the collective memory of the Congregation and to perpetuate the charisma of Saint Marguerite d’Youville. It preserves all the archival records (from Manitoba, Alberta, Quebec, the United States, and overseas) especially those of historical importance, and continues to acquire new ones so that a faithful history of the Congregation can be provided. The archives and collections are made available to the members of the Congregation and researchers.

  • 500 meters of textual documents divided into 350 archival fonds
  • 500 maps and plans
  • 25,000 photographs
  • 400 audiovisual documents
  • 195 sound recordings
  • 3,900 old and rare books
  • 3,700 artefacts
