History of The Grey Nuns of Montreal

The history of the Grey Nuns began in 1737 in Montreal when Marguerite Dufrost de Lajemmerais, the widow of François Youville, decided with her companions of the time to consecrate herself completely to the service of people in need. It was the beginning of a great saga, that of The Grey Nuns of Montreal which would extend into the vast network of human solidarity that is found today in Canada, Latin America, and the United States.
