Film by Sr. Flore Barrette, s.g.m.

Our viewing suggestion for you today is a film excerpt made in the 1950s by Sr. Flore Barrette, s.g.m. (1897-1984). The Chronicles of the Mother House Studio allow us to know that this film was made with a ‘superbe ciné kodak avec un métro pour la lumière’, offered by the Superior General of the congregation, Mother MT Courville, to Sr. Barrette in June 1950. Bishop Albert Tessier, himself a filmmaker, gave Sr. Barrette her first film lesson.

The distribution of this excerpt is part of the project that the SGM archives department has undertaken to digitize its audiovisual collections, in order to allow their dissemination and long-term preservation.

In addition to cinema, Sr. Barrette was known for her taste for the arts, especially poetry and painting. She participated in the creations of the Mother House painting studio.
