On January 18, 1701, Marguerite d’Youville’s parents, Christophe du Frost de la Jemmerais and Marie-Renée Gaultier, were united in Varennes, on Montreal’s South Shore. The witnesses to this marriage show the importance of this union for the nobility of New France. Their union produced four children, Marguerite, Charles, Joseph and Christophe.
