On this National Patriots’ Day, we present to you a letter from Sister Elizabeth McMullen (1806-1875), bursar and administrator of the Seigneury of Chateauguay, addressed to Governor General John Colborne on December 11, 1838. She recounts the events that took place in the seigneury of Chateauguay during the Patriots’ rebellion, and asks the Governor General to show clemency to the men who were taken prisoner on that occasion.
