World Cancer Day

Today is World Cancer Day. Records show that as early as 1947, the Grey Nuns of the United States became involved in cancer research, opening a specialized cancer research center at Holy Ghost Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This hospital, inaugurated in 1894, is dedicated to “incurables”, including many cancer patients. The nuns worked at Youville Hospital & Rehabilitation (named in 1993) until 2003.
