As part of the Quebec Waste Reduction Week<\/a>, let us emphasize the considerable social contribution of the Vestiaire des pauvres.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1903 by Sr. Rose-de-Lima Bonneau, the Vestiaire des pauvres (or \u0152uvre des Sans Foyers de l’Hospice St-Antoine) was designed to provide food and clothing to the many homeless people in downtown Montreal.<\/p>\n

In 1912, the Notre-Dame Parish Ladies’ Worker Association was founded. The ladies came every Thursday to the sewing room to mend or refurbish clothing.<\/p>\n

The Vestiaire becomes theAccueil Bonneau <\/a>in 1968. Even today, this charity continues to help those most in need. In 2019, 68601 essential items were distributed to 5225 clients.<\/p>\n

Before throwing your clothes in the garbage, consider giving them a second life by donating them to shelters or organizations in your area.<\/p>\n
