Did you know that the Nazareth Institute, a school for visually impaired persons, was the first institution in North America to teach Braille? Right from the start, the nuns wanted to educate children so they could function in society and learn a trade. They developed teaching tools adapted to this clientele, as illustrated by these photographs showing children in a geography class. The teaching of music was also an important part of the school curriculum.<\/span><\/p>\n
