Yesterday, at the Maison de M\u00e8re d’Youville, the Historical Dendrochronology Research Group – HDRG carried out a dendrochronological analysis of certain beams in the oldest part of the House, which was once the Montreal General Hospital. This analysis will enable us to better understand the evolution and various construction phases of the building, which dates back to 1693-1694, and whose interior was largely destroyed by fire in 1765.<\/p>\n

This research project, in collaboration with the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al, aims to build new reference chronologies for a multitude of wood species, including cedar (thuja occidentalis), oak, white pine and ash.<\/p>\n
