This organization was originally intended to receive French-Canadian orphans and poor invalids from the city of Worcester and other parishes in the Diocese of Springfield. At the time of its founding, St. Ann’s French-Canadian Orphanage was the only Canadian orphanage in this diocese where the Canadian population was considerable. The institution was renamed Mount St. Ann’s Orphanage in 1962.
