Motorized cable car on Île St-Bernard in Châteauguay (Châteauguay)

On December 2, 1954, a motorized cable car was inaugurated on Île St-Bernard in Châteauguay. The aim was to facilitate the transport of people and goods between the two banks of the Châteauguay River. Until then, trips were made by rowboat or ferry. It wasn’t until 1961 that the first cement bridge was inaugurated.
